Need to get away from it all? After taking a good look at today’s Interesting Photo, you may be tempted to book yourself an impromptu tropical retreat ASAP.
On the shores of Sri Lanka’s Uppuveli Beach, Reddit user LordLaysen captured this incredible shot of his girlfriend using a Lumix G70 equipped with a 25mm lens. Despite shooting at f/2.5 at 1/80 of a second in fairly low light, this silhouette captured our eye because of its incredible clarity. In all likeliness, the person behind the camera just aimed to take a playful picture of their loved one. However, they managed to get something truly awesome.
A bold outline against a cotton-candy sky, we can clearly make out a female figure swinging from the branch of a palm tree. However, the rest of the picture is relatively anonymous – it’s easy to place oneself on the swing instead, in whatever their idea of paradise happens to be. If you close your eyes, you can almost feel the pleasant ocean breeze weaving through your hair. Powerful pictures have the ability to transport you to a specific moment in time, and that’s precisely what this photograph manages to do.
