PetaPixel: Redoing My Home Office Space for the New Wedding Photography Season

My name is Eric Brushett, and I’m a full time wedding photographer based in Hamden, Connecticut. I recently redid my home office space for the 2015 wedding season. Here’s a look at the process.

I didn’t take any photos before we put in the windows and painted, but here is the space with the old linoleum:

It took 3 days of scraping to remove the old flooring.

We finally got it down to the original flooring. I thought maybe I could sand these down and refinish, but I already ordered the new floors.

The new flooring arrived, and we installed it.

We used checker pieces as spaces for the summer expansion of the wood.

Blinds are up (took a while to get them hung):

Then came cable management day. The desks I am using have a well in the back where the cables can be tucked in. Then they basically just run down the back side of the desk (zip ties) and under the baseboard to the rack behind the chair. It’s pretty simple.

Got the workspace up and running.

My workspace consists of a 2012 iMac with 16GB of RAM. I pretty much live in the Lightroom develop module. There’s 16TB of storage on the rack behind me, as well as a printer and some misc office supplies.
