Ashtami Rohini is observed as the birthday of Lord Krishna on the Rohini Nakshatram (Indian star sign) day in Chingam Month in Malayalam calendar in Kerala. This would fall during the 1st week of September every year. The day is of great importance at all the Krishna temples around Kerala and most importantly at the famous Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple.
