The Conservation Issue of PDNedu is out!

The Fall 2016 issue of PDNedu honors the photographers who dedicate themselves to environmental and conservation issues: Ami Vitale and cover photographer Joel Sartore, two Nikon Ambassadors who are each documenting endangered species worldwide; Aaron Vincent Elkaim, who received an Alexia Foundation grant to continue his work on the displacement of indigenous tribes in Brazil; CK Vijayakumar, whose Ohio University thesis project centered on the effects of the declining coal industry in Racine, Ohio; and Gary Braasch, a pioneer in environmental photography who passed away earlier this year while photographing the alarming effects of warming oceans of the Great Barrier Reef.

We also report on three sustainable schools in Special Report, and in Business Smarts, we interview members of three different photography collectives, an increasingly popular alternative to traditional agency representation for editorial and documentary photographers. On the gear side, Corey Rich provides tips on shooting 360-degree and virtual reality imagery and shares his experiences using the brand-new KeyMission 360. Our legal contributor, Nancy Wolff, also gives a run down on the latest rules for commercial photography drone users.

You can read the full issue for free at digitalmag.pdnedu.com.
Print copies are arriving at subscribing high schools and colleges across the U.S.
