DJI’s ultra-compact, foldable Mavic Pro drone is getting some new accessories.
The company is releasing propeller guards and a propeller cage that will shield the propellers from objects (like people) when navigating the craft in tight spaces.
While the $15 propeller guard, pictured above, covers just the exterior swing of the propellers while the propeller cage (pictured below) mounts to the drone’s arm and completely encircles the propellers.
You’ll need to use a smaller set of propellers – the 7728 Quick-Release Folding Propellers ($9) – to use the cage. If you use the cage, you’ll lose flight time–the Mavic Pro will dip from about 25 minutes of flight time to about 12 minutes. DJI also recommends flying in Tripod mode when using the cage.
The cage is available now for $159.
DJI is also releasing an Advanced Battery Charging Hub ($55) that will let you charge up to four Mavic Pro batteries at once. The hub can detect which batteries are the most drained and charge those first. It is also compatible with the Phantom 4 series 100W charger.
Given its petite size, it’s very tempting to just drop the Mavic Pro into a gear bag without thinking twice. And while it doesn’t quite need the huge carrying cases required by other drones, it still needs some protection on the road. A new Aircraft Sleeve ($7) is a tiny, custom-designed pouch with a soft, padded interior to slip the drone into when traveling.
DJI is also releasing a new remote controller monitor hood and ND filters for the Mavic.
