Rangefinder online: Fanning Away the Tears

Bride Lia had just put her dress on when all of the excitement, emotion—and nerves—of the wedding day started to seep in. Fortunately, New York-based photographers Aaron and Whitney had planned ahead and repositioned the couch in this Pearl River Hilton hotel bridal suite to be next to the room’s large window, so when the bride needed a moment to sit and breathe, the photographers had the perfect natural light to work with.

“This was just one of those moments where we had to make sure that we continued shooting and didn’t stop,” Aaron says. “The truth is, there were probably 30 frames taken in this specific sequence, but only one of them rocked us and really showed the moment and conveyed the true emotion Lia was experiencing.” Plus, the shot captures the motion from the bridesmaids as they fanned away Lia’s tears. “There’s this sisterly vibe here—a real sense of love and caring between her and the two bridesmaids that we feel completely.”

(Captured using a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 35mm lens.)
