Finding the Familiar Strange

Graduates from the International Center of Photography-Bard MFA program will exhibit their work in the group show “familiar strange” at the Baxter Street Camera Club of New York. Curated by curator, writer and Mossless contributing editor Efrem Zelony-Mindell, the show includes the work of seven photographers from the 2016-2017 program.

The exhibiting artists’ work celebrates our differences but promotes unity through a shared mutual respect, as explained in their press release. “We are each human—men and women, all sorts of sizes, shapes and colors—but here we are, each of us just people.” On the name of the show, Zelony-Mindell writes: “We are each the familiar strange in our own assembly. We are bizarre and loved and we each make us ourselves through differences.”

Catch the opening reception next week on June 28th from 6-8 PM at 126 Baxter St in Manhattan.
