On Friday I posted that Canon would be extending their mail-in rebates (from Oct. 1 - Nov. 4). I noted in the article that you'd be able to best time your purchasing decision based on which rebate program had the higher rebate value for the item of interest. Unfortunatey, as I was working from an airport terminal with only a few minutes to spare before boarding, I didn't have time to verify the rebate values for all of the items we typically track.
As it turns out, none of the instant rebate values actually changed from the previous program to this one. However, there are a couple of interesting things to note about the October 2017 rebate program.
The first is that select items feature an instant rebate that expires Oct. 14, not Nov. 4. A supplemental rebate program may be announced Oct. 15 with different values, but... instant rebates on those specific products may simply end (we don't know). Below are the items with a shorter specified rebate period:
Instant Rebates Live Oct 1 - Oct 14:
Another important aspect of this rebate program is that stackable EF/EF-S lens mail-in rebates have returned (live Oct 1 - Dec 31). Here's how to take advantage of Canon's MIRs:
With most of the qualifying lenses already eligible for instant rebates (see below), the stackable instant and mail-in rebates result in a fantastic savings opportunity. [Sean]

(A lens included in a camera lens kit and lenses included in a 2 lens kit do not qualify as eligible EF lenses under this promotion; also, multiple purchases of a single lens do not qualify for this promotion.) All eligible lens purchases must be included on the same sales receipt. Here are the qualifying lenses and mail-in rebate amounts:
