Now on View: A Perspective on America From its Next Generation

Earlier this year, the School of Visual Arts in New York City sent out an open call to high school students in America, asking for photography submissions that represented students’ individual perspectives about the state of the country. The resulting gallery exhibition, “2017 America” is now on view at SVA Gramercy Gallery. The show features at least one print from each entrant, totaling 2,000 individual works from photographers in 30 states. Stephen Frailey, Chair of the BFA Photo and Video Department, writes: “Seeking to amplify the voices of the newest members of the visual arts community, “2017 AMERICA” showcases a wide range of perspectives, from works that are overtly political and issue-oriented to those that express a more personal position.”

The show is on view from now until December 2, with an opening next week on November 30 from 6-8 PM.
