Featuring the work of nine students who attended the advanced-track program at the International Center of Photography (ICP), flēan is an exhibition of images that attempts to peel back societal expectations and conventions, and reveal the tender soul of the artist beneath. The title takes its name from an old English word that means to flay, or peel back the skin.
Held at the ICP’s midtown New York location at 1114 6th Avenue, the show features work by Diane Drinnon, Elena Genovese, Hanna Grankvist, Anne Joyce, Eric Patel, Carolina Saez, Sonia Salvador, Harry Sandler, and Ronnie Yang.
The advanced-track program requires that students have a strong conceptual and technical foundation in photography. Students attend to develop a body of work. Many have gone on to have successful careers in photography.
