Every two years since 1985, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York presents New Photography, an exhibition series that encapsulates current trends in the medium of photography.
This year’s exhibition, “Being: New Photography 2018,” captures what it means to be human. Featuring the work of 17 artists under the age of 45 from 10 countries, the exhibition calls into question the assumptions made about people from the way they are represented in photographs.
The 80 works shown “explore how personhood is presented today,” and “offer timely perspectives on issues of privacy and exposure; the formation of communities; and gender, heritage, and psychology.”
Curated by Lucy Gallun, the assistant curator in the Department of Photography at MoMA, the exhibition is open through August 19, 2018.
