An Exhibition by Anahid Ghorbani Aims to Shed Light on the Lives of Immigrants and Refugees

In The Edge of Shadows, an exhibition by Anahid Ghorbani open at Filter Photo in Chicago through May 26, the contradictory fears of visibility and invisibility faced by immigrants and refugees is put on display. Using video, installation, and photographic works created in collaboration with participants at the Heartland Alliance, an anti-poverty organization working throughout the United States, Ghorbani aims to shine a light on the struggles that refugees and immigrants face on a daily basis.

Ghorbani, who received her MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2017, and her BA in 2012 from Tehran University of Art in Iran, is the recipient of the 2017/2018 Diane Dammeyer Fellowship. To learn more about her work, visit her website, or follow her on Instagram.
