Mark Raymond Mason: Daily Photo Tip

Most modern cameras simulate very fast shutter speeds by having one shutter curtain follow a second, like cars on the highway. By narrowing the width of the slit between the curtains, extremely fast shutter speeds can result. (First published May 6, 2010)
