Thinks have been pretty quiet on the Nikon front lately, but that’s all about to change. According to a fresh report from Nikon Rumors, the company is planning to release not one, but two entry-level Z-mount mirrorless cameras in 2020, with a “pro” level camera probably coming in early 2021.
The rumor was published yesterday, shortly before Nokishita seemed to confirm the report by pointing out that Nikon has just registered two new cameras—N1929 and N1932—with a Russian certification authority.
If Nikon Rumors is right, these two cameras will be the so-called Nikon Z5 and Nikon Z30, entry-level cousins to the full-frame Nikon Z6 and the crop-sensor Nikon Z50. Both cameras should be released “within the next three months” based on both NR’s sources and the Nokishita report. Meanwhile, the professional-grade Nikon Z8/Z9 that people are waiting for Nikon to release will likely not show up until late 2020 or early 2021.
For now, no specs, product photos, or other details have been leaked, but with an announcement expected for the next 30-90 days, we wouldn’t be surprised if more details about the rumored Nikon Z5 and Nikon Z30 begin to leak very soon. Stay tuned…
